Certain dresses such as a tube dress, a sabrina collar or a one shoulder dress “forces” a woman to use a strapless bra.

Unfortunately, this type of bra often makes women uncomfortable because of the fear that their breasts will shift.

Acknowledging the difficulties that many women experience, Jacqui Stafford, a Style Director for Shape USA, shared strategies on how to wear a strapless bra comfortably and safe from embarrassing moments, such as when a bra shifts downwards. Oh no!

When buying a strapless bra, make sure that the size is in accordance to your bust. Ensure that your bra isn’t too small or too loose. Most women think they need a brace or a tighter bond. Therefore, most women choose a bra with a smaller size, with the aim that their bra won’t have room to shift.

This is the incorrect way because the wires in the cup or the panel below the cup are the ones supporting your breasts. According to Stafford, it turns out that 7 out of 10 women wears the wrong bra size.

After finding the right size for a strapless bra, check the strength of the wire that is coiled around the cup. Using your logic, when holding the wire, determine whether the wire can withstand the “load” of your breasts.

If you’re not too confident in wearing this type of bra, but still want to look perfect with dresses that exposes your shoulders, the most appropriate alternative would be to use a bra with transparent plastic straps. Ensure that the straps are patternless and does not have any label printings on it.
